Your 3rd Hand

Relocation is a very nervy and risky experience not to mention expensive. If you are not attentive, things can go bad in a blink of an eye. First of all I would recommend you to handle the relocation yourself if you can or at least do the packing yourself. Packing yourself and then using a delivery service is also risky because if your stuff is damaged you can’t claim insurance or compensation for it. So that leaves the companies who offer you the complete relocation services. Not all moving companies are reliable. Keep in mind there are a lot of scams over the internet so it is better that you get a quotation in person. Not all companies offer all services.

I said there are a lot of scams over the internet but the information provide about the relocation company itself is authentic, mostly. First of all look for company information over the internet. Look for services they are offering and at what cost. The most important thing you should be looking for is moving insurance. Get there contact numbers. Make a list of a few companies in your area and call them and ask them to come over and give you a quotation.

Now that you have several quotations in your hand it’s time to review them. Evaluate them thoroughly, comparing costs, time and services being offered. Usually these relocation companies offer services like storage, packing material, packing & unpacking, moving insurance & pet moving. In some cases the price might be high without them offering all the services you want but insurance might be one of the services being offered.

Check out what type of insurances they are offering. Most companies do not mention to what extent the insurance would cover the damages. This is the tricky part which most people overlook when hiring a relocation company. There are usually two types of insurance offered, one of them is a minimum amount coverage which is for free or a fairly low price. This would cover some amount of the damage done. The second one is full replacement coverage which is called actual cash value type. This type of insurance guarantees you either replacement of the damaged item or a complete money compensation for your damages. The actual cash value type also costs more but at least would give you fewer worries. So you should check for the insurance type carefully before finalizing.

Now that you have evaluated your options and have made your choice, give them a call and get moving.
